Inquiry in an Instant

In this episode, 4th grade students are collecting data about fat content in foods.  They previously measured 1 gram of each food on their list: hot dog, cookie, bread, apple, banana, mustard, catsup, mayonnaise, doughnut, peanut butter, jelly, and potato chips.  Each food was placed inside a circle on a piece of brown paper.  The brown paper was our choice of an indicator for grease/oil/fat.  Students in this video are seen calculating the area of the grease spot in square centimeters using an acetate overlay and vis-a-vis pens.  Listen as they discuss their method for calculating the area of each grease spot.
