UPDATED!!! Brain Dumps

The revision to the NC Essential Standards for Science necessitated an update to the drawings my students use to help them excel during the EOG.  Here are 2 pictures to show the current versions we use.  The original explanation of the brain dump strategy can be found below the updated versions.


Brain Dumps

A brain dump is a strategy for making good use of the scrap paper students are given before taking the standardized test.  A drawing is created to help students remember key points of learning from the content studied and covered on the assessment.  In 5th grade science, we have developed the pictures seen here.  Our students practice drawing these quickly so that very little time is spent transferring their knowledge prior to taking the test, but they will be left with a reference tool that came directly from the knowledge that is stored in their brain.  You can view a sample video that demonstrates how the brain dump is introduced by clicking the video link below.
